Here are 10 things to look out for in purchasing a used two wheeler
- Documentation ( RC, Insurance, PUC).
- Check the tyres & wheels – they should spin freely when the bike is on a center stand. Also the wheel bearings should be smooth – if there is any crunching or rumbling, they must be replaced.
- Grab the top of the front wheel & push it side to side – it should be solid. If there is movement or noise the bearings has to be replaced.
- Check both the brakes – stand next to the bike and walk it forwards, then squeeze the front brake lever – the wheel should stop sharply and the forks should dive down. If it doesn’t – the brakes need attention.
- Check for engine oil leakage below the bike.
- Check the front and rear suspension for oil leakage.
- Check for cracks or dents.
- With the bike on a stand, lift the front wheel off the ground, grip both fork legs and pull the wheel towards you, then push it away – repeat this. You are look for play in the bearings.
- Accelerate the engine with high throttle keeping the bike in center stand. If there is smoke coming out of the silencer. There is a engine work.
